Rather than the usual famous sightseeing spots in Sapporo, I’m sure you and your friends would relish a more unique and local experience. Unfortunately, it’s quite difficult to find information about these spots known only to locals! Fret not, I’m going to share some places you and your friends will enjoy. Even better, they are all near each other, so you can squeeze them all in a short trip.
Popular among locals, Milk Village Sapporo is a one-of-a-kind shop where you can eat milk ice cream with liqueur. The interior of the shop is fashioned after a bar and has a calming effect.
When you order your ice cream, you can choose two of over 100 kinds of liqueur to pour on top. I chose Ballantine 30 Years and Tokachi Brandy Morio Muscat. I think this is a unique way to enjoy expensive alcohol!
I didn’t just order the ice cream. I ordered Set A, which includes crepe yogurt, quinoa and pie. The good thing about this set is that your ice cream can be refilled once for free! You may wonder how one can eat so much ice cream, but when you eat the ice cream with different liqueur – each with a distinctive taste, you won’t get tired of it.
You can also order coffee and handmade cookies. Milk Village Sapporo is really the perfect place for dessert after meals or just as a place to relax if you and your friends are tired from walking around. It’s easy to get here since it’s close to downtown Sapporo.

Where should you and your friends go to enjoy 360° views of Sapporo City? Noria Ferris Wheel at NORBESA!
This symbol of Sapporo is open until 11pm on weekdays and for a good reason – the night view is beautiful!
While sitting in the gondola, you will be able to admire views to the north, south east and west. You should also be able to spot the TV tower, another landmark of Sapporo.
After riding for about 10 minutes, you’ll reach the highest point of the
Ferris Wheel. Oh! And don’t worry about it being cold during winter
because the seats inside the gondola are heated.
Isn’t it nice to enjoy such a unique night view with good friends?

In recent years, Japanese whiskey has become really popular! So if you and your friends like whiskey and want to have a jolly good time, you should visit Nikka Whisky Yoichi Distillery located in Yoichi-cho. The whiskey factory is accessible from Sapporo.
I’m sure you’ll find learning about the manufacturing process of whiskey really interesting! The most memorable part for me was the unique aroma of whiskey in the hall.
There was the smell of smoked chips mingling with the scent of whiskey. It made me feel like trying the whiskey.
Before I visited the factory, I didn’t really appreciate drinking whiskey, but after taking a tour of the factory, I now understand how to enjoy the drink!
There are whiskey tasting areas in the factory. With carbonated water and still water prepared, you can drink whiskey in different ways: soda splitting, water splitting and more! Personally, I think soda splitting is a good way of drinking whiskey if you are new to the drink. Besides whiskey, you can also enjoy apple wine made with standard whiskey and Nikka.

Get ready for some winter fun with your friends at Sapporo Dome Snow
Square, where you can ride on sleds and tired tubes down snowy slopes.
Don't be scared! The slope has a gentle gradient, but you’ll still be
thrilled racing down the slope with the wind in your face.
It’s so exciting you’ll want to take the ride again and again!
Many locals come here with their family and friends on the weekend. However, since Snow Square is a relatively new attraction, not many people know about it yet!
I recommend that you and your friends dress warm as you will be out in the open and it can get really cold!

ODORI BISSE is a place created to reflect a beautiful lifestyle in the north Sapporo.
There are many restaurants and shop in this modern building.
It’s a great place to buy some souvenirs back for your loved ones. From small items to expensive items, a wide range of goods are available.
These include colorful Japanese paintings and cute chopstick rests (about 700 yen).
I think Japanese hand towels (about 1,200 yen) make good gifts. You can choose from so many different designs!

The spots I have introduced are places I myself would like to take my friends to. Sapporo has so much to offer in terms of food, shopping and the great outdoors. I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends in Sapporo!
