Yahiko Village in Niigata Prefecture is surrounded by rich nature and popular tourist attractions such as Mt. Yahiko, Yahiko Shrine and a variety of hot springs. Of these, Yahiko Shrine is well-known as a powerful spiritual spot, attracting many worshippers to its gates. From late October to mid-November, Yahiko Village is at its most beautiful in autumn colors, with the light-up at “Momiji-dani Valley” in Yahiko Park as its crowning glory.
The Yahiko Chrysanthemum Festival, held every year from November 1st to November 24th at Yahiko Shrine, is one of Niigata’s many chrysanthemum exhibitions. Of these exhibitions which differ in terms of scale, number of exhibits and facilities included, the Yahiko Chrysanthemum Festival is the largest and most famous. Recognized throughout the country as a key highlight of autumn, the festival draws a huge number of participants each year who come to appreciate the regal flowers.
