Fujikawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival

Dec 8, 2016

In Japan, autumn leaves represent the coming of fall.

If you want to celebrate this beautiful occasion, I recommend you join the Fujikawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival.

It’s held every year during the first three weeks of November. You can’t miss it! The festival is held where large maple trees line both sides of a river. When the leaves start to turn, they form an ‘autumn leaves tunnel’ – a breathtaking column of red and yellow hues.

Many from all across Japan and the world visit Lake Kawaguchi just to witness this amazing sight.

It is during this time that the city comes alive. Many locals open small stores along the river to sell savory salt-grilled river fish, hot drinks and handmade crafts. It’s a good time to try the local delicacies and buy some unique Lake Kawaguchi souvenirs!

So, if you’re thinking about visiting Japan, why not do it during the Fujikawaguchiko Autumn Leaves Festival? I’m sure you’ll have an unforgettable experience!
