Gongen Chaya

Visiting Mount Takao? Goma Dango is a must-try! The sesame dumpling is a traditional Japanese confectionary made from rice flour. It’s the perfect snack to have before your climb – it’ll give you the energy you need to make it to the top!

My favorite shop to enjoy this is Gongen Chaya, which is well known for its tasty food, great service and warm hospitality.

For just 300 yen, you can enjoy chewy Dango served with a generous amount of sesame. The aroma of the sesame is enough to whet your appetite – simply delicious! Pair that with Yaso-cha or wild herb tea (served for free) and enjoy!

By the way, if you like the taste of sesame, you can find other interesting sesame-related food items at the shop, like sesame ramen or gelato sprinkled with sesame seeds!

So do visit the shop to enjoy Dango and the rest of the menu, it’s the perfect place to stop by whether you’re going up or down the mountain!
