In spring when the sakura are blooming, the Hirosaki castle is the place to be at! With more then 2500 sakura trees around the park, the park burst into light pink, coupled with crisp blue skies in spring. The park is a magnificent sight to behold, no doubt one of the best sakura spots in Japan. With moats where rental boats are available, abundance of picnic areas, petal filled moats and sakura tunnels, the park is just one huge sakura spot.

If one is coming from Tokyo, the journey can wear the body out. However it is extremely worth it. To spend more time at Hirosaki, one can choose to spend a night in Aomori where it is much easier to get to Hirosaki. Even though the park is one of the best sakura spots, you will not feel cramped or crowded due to the vastness of the park.

Making a trip here is one of the best things to do should you be in Japan from end April to early May.
