Jigokudani, home of the world-famous "snow monkeys", is situated in the valley of Yokoyu-River in Yamanouchi. It's a place of harsh winter and surrounded by the rough cliffs and hot springs in volcanic area that lead to the name of Jigokudani (Hell’s Valley).

Best time to visit this unique place is January and February. The areas will be covered by snow between December to March. This allows us to observe these wild macaques' behaviors. They dip in the pool due to the cold winter days. On other seasons, monkeys do not bath as often as the winter season. It is prohibited to touch or feed the monkeys. Worry not! there is a warden too.

Admission to the park is affordable at Y800 per adult and Y400 per child from 6 to 17 years old. Any child below 6 years old could enter for free with an accompanying adult.

Tourists could enjoy onsen at Korakukan Ryokan as well as delicious local delicacies and enjoy the Japanese hospitality at the traditional inn.
