Kamijiya

Matcha

One of my favourite shops in Ise is Kamijiya, which sells items that let you learn about Japanese traditions and culture. They make great gifts! What’s even better is that they have such huge variety in the shop, you can buy different things for different people in one place! One of the uniquely Japanese items is the washi paper, a traditional Japanese paper made from rice.

The most popular product here is Onamae Hanko, or name stamps. For 520 yen, you can get a personalised name stamp covered with traditional Ise Chiyogami (Yūzen) paper and can choose from more than 500 kanji characters or names, to find your name in Japanese!

Go ahead and send a few postcards home from Ise, all with your name stamped on them. That would be a great way to capture some Japanese culture.
