Kawazu Sakura Festival

Cherry blossoms in Japan typically bloom at around April. However, if you are in Japan before that time (around early/mid February to March) and still wish to catch some early cherry blossoms, you can go to the Kawazu Sakura Festival. Kawazu is well-known among Japanese locals who wish to see the earliest cherry blossoms in bloom. Aside from the cherry blossoms, there are also many street stalls set up along the walkways lined with cherry blossoms trees. You can try some local delicacies or buy some souvenirs such as sakura manjyu and other sakura-themed items to bring home.

To get to the festival, take a train to Kawazu station and follow the crowd. You won't miss it as it is near the station.
