Kunigakaigan

One of the most stunning landscapes on Oki Island, Kuniga Coast offers incredible coastal scenery carved by the powerful waves and strong winds surrounding the area. Here, you’ll be able to see a manner of beautifully eroded coastal landforms such as cliffs, sea caves, sea stacks and arches.

It’s a sight that’s both beautiful and thrilling, with precipitous cliffs that stretch for about 7 kilometers from east to west. Among them is the magnificent sheer cliff known as Matengai. Standing at a staggering 257 meters above sea level, Matengai is one of the highests cliff in Japan and the highlight of Kuniga Coast.

Looking down on the ocean from the rising cliff, you will see a dazzling and dynamic scenery made up of a multitude of massive, uniquely-shaped rocks — a testament to the overwhelming power and beauty of nature.
