Mt. Kurokami

Jun 27, 2017

If you like a good workout and an awesome view, I recommend Mt. Kurokami in Saga – I climb it myself every three months!

It never gets boring. I usually start my hike from Ryumon Dam. There’s a beautiful pyramid there that never fails to amaze me.

The hike starts off easy – which is good, as you get to enjoy the beautiful green flora, stone bridges and small waterfalls. I love listening to the sound of flowing water. It makes me feel so calm and relaxed.

But then, it gets more difficult! The path becomes rockier and the climb more steep. However, about an hour in, you’ll hit a mountain road that’s relatively easier to climb. Whew!

The mountain road leads to the summit, and your last hurdle – the Tendo-iwa. It’s a boulder that protrudes from the summit!

You’ll usually find guys attempting to climb the boulder, but hey, if you’re daring enough, do it! You’ll be treated to a breathtaking 360-degree view that makes all the effort worthwhile. Plus, there are no words to describe the sense of achievement that you'll feel on top of the boulder.

But don’t look down though! At 518 meters above ground, you legs might go soft. Honestly, it's thrills like this that keeps me going back to the mountain.

I recommend you experience it for yourself!
