Mt. Takao Cable Car

Feb 3, 2017

Operated by the Takaotozan Railway, the Mount Takao cable car runs for the bottom half of Mount Takao.

Needless to say, the unbelievable scenery of lovely cherry blossoms in spring, or the red and yellow colored leaves in autumn will amaze you when you’re taking the 12 minute, 2-seater ride up the mountain. What’s special is the cable car gives you a good idea of how steep the mountain is, making for a thrilling ride.

There are also restaurants if you are feeling hungry, and souvenir shops for you to browse as well. At 480 yen for adults, and about 240 yen for children, you can choose the cable car or chairlifts, which travel to several spots on the mountain. My favorite was the chairlift, which is perfect for me, as I wanted to feel the wind on my face. Try it when you’re visiting Mount Takao!
