Murodou-Daira

Murodou-daira lies at the centre of the Alpine Route. Standing at 2,450 meters above sea level, it is the perfect base to explore the area. Surrounded by the magnificent Tateyama mountains, it is a popular spot for both tourists and hiking enthusiasts alike. Be sure to look out for “Mikurigaike”, the deepest lake in the Alpine and “Jigokudani”, where you can witness volcanic activity. With a stroke of luck, you may be able to see Raichou, the rock ptarmigan, which is the nationally-protected species of gamebird. And when night falls, unwind and relax under a blanket of twinkling stars!
