If you’re a fan of nature’s majesty, the Nabegataki Falls in Oguni is definitely something you’ll “fall” for. It’s really famous for its amazing view from behind the waterfall, which you can reach by going around the waterfall’s right.
To get to the falls, you’ll have to enter through the park. They have shops that sell vegetables straight from Oguni’s farms, so you can pick up some souvenirs on your way back!
But first, pay the entrance fees at the reception counter – it’s a reasonable 200 yen for adults, and just 100 yen for kids! The park is open from 9am to 5pm, and accepts visitors till 4.30pm. So don’t go too late!
Nabegataki Falls is a three-minute stroll from the entrance. Breathe in the fresh air as you make your way in, and you’ll hear the waterfall before you see it. A clear river flows at the foot of the fall, and you can step onto the boulders around to snap your fill of pictures!
Nabegataki also has a little surprise for you. There are heart-shaped stones somewhere on the path to the waterfall. Legend says that if you manage to find all six, it might bring you luck and happiness!
One last thing: Nabegataki is difficult to reach by public transport, so you should try to go by car.
