Ponshukan Niigata Station

If you love Sake, you should definitely head to Niigata, the land of Japanese rice.

There are actually several Ponshukan outlets, but this one will be the most convenient for tourists visiting Niigata, as it's right smack in Niigata Station on the 2nd floor of the station.

In Ponshukan, they have a bar, and they retail zillions of different Sake along with a plethora of sake drinking accessories like cups and sangria mixes (to mix with Sake for an interesting drink). Most spectacular of all though is the Sake vending machines, which number at about 100, and best of all, it's cheap! For 500 yen you get to sample up to 5 different Sakes of your choice at the vending machine, which makes it 100 yen per "shot", and if you're lucky, there might be promotions ongoing which may get u an additional free Sake shot or other things!
