What’s a visit to Japan without trying on a Kimono? When you are in Kamakura, it is worthy to try to wear Kimono. In case you don’t know what a Kimono is, it’s a traditional Japanese garment worn by women during special occasions. In the past, it was worn during important festivals or formal occasions.
A Kimono is formalwear and it is considered polite to wear it during these moments. So, where can you try on one? There is a rental shop in Komachi street where you can rent a Kimono or Kosode (a basic version of the Kimono). You can choose from many designs and rental costs about 4,000 yen. You’ll feel like a local as you stroll around, enjoying the scenery. I recommend visiting temples and shrines as they make perfect backgrounds for beautiful and memorable photos!. Don’t be shy and dress up! Even the Japanese don’t often have the opportunity to wear a pretty Kimono these days, so you’ll find many Japanese at the shop renting one too!
