Sakura at Kakunodate

Lemon

Kakunodate is a beautiful town that is known for their well preserved samurai houses which allows visitors a glimpse of their glorious past.
The first time I visited Kakunodate was in winter many years ago and the view of thick snow that covered the streets and olden style tiled roofs of the samurai houses was breathtaking and unforgettable.

I promised myself that I would come back again in Spring to see a different seasonal view and I managed to do that this year!

Kakunodate in Spring with weeping cherry blossoms in full bloom was sheer magnificence. Visitors can also rent bicycles and cycle around the town to view the cherry blossoms in bloom at different parts of the town like the samurai residences and along the river. There was also a small fair near the river where game, food and drinks stalls were set up for people who came to view the flowers.
