Shikoku Karst

Want to experience the rural beauty of Japan? Then be sure to consider Shikoku Karst! Considered one of the three great karsts in Japan, Shikoku Karst is located between the prefectural border of Ehime and Kochi. It’s my understanding that the famous rock features here were formed by acidic water that dissolved the limestone rocks over time.

This is a well-known scenic spot with magnificent views of nature, so do remember to bring along your camera! I especially love the view of the lush greenery and scattered white rocks, with cows grazing all over the fields. It’s no wonder that Shikoku Karst has a reputation for being known as the "Switzerland of Japan".

I highly recommend walking along the sightseeing path to feel the gentle breeze blowing over the fields…it will give you such a peaceful feeling. And here’s a tip: don't forget to wear long pants to keep yourself warm as the weather on the mountain can change quickly!
