Shinhotaka Ropeway

One of the major highlights in Takayama besides Shirakawago. It is located about 90mins away from takayama by bus. I took snowshoeing tour from nohi bus company and it cost me about 130,000yen which included;
- return bus journey from takayama to shinhotaka
- shinhotaka ropeway ticket
- snowshoe and gear rental fees
- 1000yen food voucher and
- a hiking guide fee

Everything was paid off with the amazing snowshoeing experience ~ trudging through the snow while breathing the cold winter breeze with snowflakes kisses from heaven. I truly immersed in the beauty of surrounding nature~! It's so wonderful !!

There were two ropeways .. 1st ropeway took us to the visitor center at nabedaira kogen. There are public bath, mini exhibition area, restaurant and souvenir shops. There is also a free onsen footbath outside the visitor center and garden (but it was all covered by the snow in winter (^ν^).

From nabedaira kogen, the double decker ropeway (which is the only one of its kind in Japan) took us to the observation deck at the upper level that is another 800m climb to the altitude of ~2150m. Another jaw dropping view ~ of the mountains and valleys along the way. Exited the observation deck building, enjoyed taking photos along snow maze and some group of people were having fun playing snowballs. Unfortunately the weather could be very windy and freezing cold at higher altitude.. I did not spend much time outside but back to the building to spend my 1000yen food voucher on udon and hida beef stick~! **Must try - Hida beef** you can find more selection of Hida beef restaurants in Takayama.

The whole one day journey was awesome~! Will return back again in future and next target would be kamikochi trekking experience ~!
