Shoyu Hompo

Matcha

Dec 8, 2016

Soy sauce is one of the most special products produced in Ise. In fact, its manufacturers dedicate it to the Ise Grand Shrine every year! This soy sauce has a rich but refreshing taste. Dip your sushi and sashimi into it to add to their taste.

Perhaps you’re thinking, there’s nothing special about having sushi and sashimi with soy sauce. Well have you heard of desserts and sweets made with soy sauce? Shoyu Hompo has a one-of-a-kind dessert – Ise Shoyu no Toromi Purin, otherwise known as Ise thick soy sauce pudding.

It’s made with Ise soy sauce and amakoji, a fermented rice product used to make food sweeter. The unique thick texture is nothing like you’ve tasted before, and the sweet taste of the pudding will linger on your tongue. It may seem a little unusual, but one taste and I promise that you’ll want to come back here to eat it again.
