Located in Ikoma City, in the northwest region of Nara Prefecture, Takayamaseika is a kakimochi manufacturer that’s popular with both locals and tourists.

The manufacturing process involves cutting the mochi into thin slices and air-drying them completely, until the surface is a lovely shade of light brown. After that, these dried pieces of mochi are toasted, and that is how kakimochi, the beloved snack of Ikoma, is produced.
