Tōdai-ji

Tan Han Yang

Todaiji is a Buddhist temple that houses one of Japans largest Buddha statues.

Located in Nara, it's a short trip from Osaka and is one of the attractions other than the deer in Nara park.

The temple is really beautiful and it's hard to imagine that it's merely two thirds of it's original size after having been reconstructed multiple times due to damage during wars. When it's sakura season, the trees in the temple grounds will be blooming with beautiful sakura blossoms and within the temple you'll be able to see ancient statues and the amazing giant Buddha.

Don't miss the opportunity to pass through a hole the size of Buddhas nostril which has been carved into a post. Legend says that you'll have an entire year's worth of luck if you manage to pass through it!
