Tobira Onsen Myojinkan

Dec 8, 2016

Us Japanese love onsens! The lesser known, the better too.

However, these hidden onsens are usually difficult to get to. This is where Tobira Onsen Myojinkan comes in - When I think of going on a relaxing getaway, Tobira Onsen Myojinkan always comes to my mind! Located just 30 minutes from the JR Matsumoto Station, the onsen is conveniently located and I get to enjoy hot spring baths and breathtaking views of nature, without leaving the comforts of the ryokan.

The onsen offers both French and Japanese cuisine. You might be wondering why anyone will choose to dine French when at a Japanese ryokan. Turns out, the night I was there, the French dining room was fully occupied! It seems the chef here is famous for his French cooking, making it the more popular choice with guests.

Regardless, I enjoyed savoring every bit of my delicious Japanese course as the dishes were cooked using fresh and locally sourced seafood and vegetables. They were also beautifully presented. The refined, and sophisticated taste of the fresh local produce is truly fantastic!

Breakfast is served in an area adjacent to the Japanese dining room. You will love having your meal here as it looks out to the surrounding lush green forest and a ravine with fast-flowing waters.

By the way, there is free Wi-Fi in the lobby, but no cell service in the rooms. I think it’s actually a good thing to be disconnected once in a while! Watch a video

お部屋では携帯が圏外になってしまいますが(ロビーはwifiあり)、これはいつもネットに繋がっている普段の生活から自分を少し切り離すことができ、この旅館のメリットの1つであると思います。 ビデオを見る
