Ueno Farm in Asahikawa City is a farm with an English-style garden built to suit the unique nature and climate of Hokkaido. Designed by the famous garden designer Ms. Sayuki Ueno, the garden is divided into 10 different themed areas which bloom with over 2,000 varieties of perennial plants and flowers from spring to autumn. One popular area is the Mirror Border, which features flower beds planted in mirror-like symmetry on either side of a stylish red brick walkway. You can spend hours just strolling through the entire garden while taking photos of the seasonal flowers from various angles.

Inside Ueno Farm, you can also visit Naya Cafe, a cafe built on a refurbished barn house. Here you can enjoy curry, quiche tarts, sweets, and other dishes made with Hokkaido ingredients. The cafe is open all year round even during the garden’s off-season from mid-October to late April. There is also a garden shop where you can buy flower seedlings, gardening items, and various souvenirs, or enjoy soft-serve ice cream made from locally-produced milk.
