Unique shops in a district where the feel of good, old Japan still lingers

At the northern part of Kamitori Shopping Arcade, on the east side of Namikizaka-dori Street, you will find Kaminoura-dori, a street that definitely has character. Other than the greengrocer and a rice store, which have been there from the very beginning, old buildings have been renovated to house a quiet “izakaya” (Japanese pub), stylish bars, soba noodle restaurants, boutiques, bead shops, beauty salons, okonomiyaki restaurants, and stores with goods from all around Asia, creating a unique, nostalgic atmosphere. Contrary to the recent trend of cities and towns all over the country having all of the same stores from the same chains, in Kaminoura-dori you can almost feel the warmth of the charming buildings and of the people who have inherited and continue to use them. Compared to its neighboring Namikizaka-dori, with its crowds during the daytime, this is an old-fashioned, quiet street, perfect for those who wish to go for a leisurely walk and want to get away from the bustle of the city. When night falls, it fills with young people, giving it a very different personality that is also great to experience. Kaminoura-dori, with its air of elegance, is a neighborhood that invites you to come and search for something that will speak to you. Day or night, it is always open to exploration.
