Yokohama Three towers

Mar 3, 2017

The Yokohama Three Towers are, as the name implies, a group of three historically-significant towers in Yokohama. Interestingly, they’re nicknamed The King, The Queen and The Jack. And not even all the local folks are familiar with them!

The first tower, The King, is the Kanagawa Prefectural Office, and was built about 90 years ago. The second, The Queen, is the Yokohama Customs Building, which has a history of about 80 years. And the last, The Jack, is the Yokohama Port Opening Memorial Hall, which was built over 100 years ago. Said to be where foreign ships entered Yokohama Port, this tower is also designated as a historical heritage building of Japan.

Some would say that the three towers have been eclipsed by taller modern buildings, but they still bear cultural significance. It’s been said that if you go to a spot where you can see all three towers at once, it will grant you your wishes and bring you bliss. Why not give it a try?
