Zao Fox Village

Foxes are sly and dangerous predators in our minds, but think again! They are actually extremely adorable and approachable! Enter the Zao Fox Village in Miyagi Prefecture!

Take a 2 hour ride on Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo station to Shiroishi-zao station. Hire a Taxi to take you to the forest where the foxes are! Pay an entrance fee of 1000 Yen and be prepared to play with foxes! You can buy carrots and meat snacks to feed them and don't forget to adhere by the rules on a list that would be given to you.

The village is opened daily from 9am to 5pm and would be close if there is inclement weather.

The area is like a mini zoo, and you can venture into another section to see rabbits, birds and some ponies. Last word of caution, beware of poops on the ground!
