RAIL PASS

JR Kyushu Rail Pass

The JR Kyushu rail pass for shinkansen makes your trip around Kyushu very convenient. The JR Kyushu Rail Pass allows you to get on an off any Shinkansen, Limited Express, Special Express or local trains run by JR Kyushu. There are 2 kinds of passes, one is limited to the North-Kyushu area while the other covers the whole island. Both are available for either a 3-day or 5-day time span.

This restaurant with a history going back over 50 years is an attraction for visitors from all over Japan. Its dishes are prepared with same-day fish and seafood. You should certainly try the "Tokusei Uni-don" (sea urchin served on a bed of rice)!

14:00 Michi-no-eki Ariake (Ripple Land)

A roadside station featuring a stylish, white pedestrian bridge with an exotic southern country atmosphere. The octopus (a local specialty) objects and the octopus-shaped talismans, which are supposed to be very good for your academic progress will make a good souvenir!

Built in the elegant Romanesque style, this church is a symbol of Amakusa; its position on the top of a hill gives it a commanding view of Kumamoto’s cityscape.

16:30 Sakitsu Catholic Church

A unique Gothic-style church featuring a tatami floor. Together with its surroundings, has been named one of Japan’s Important Cultural Landscapes. Towering over a small fishing village, it is also called "Hall of the God of the Sea" and is a great spot for a commemorative picture!

17:30 Amakusa Shimoda Onsen Boyokaku

An accommodation with a splendid view of the setting sun over Amakusa’s western seashore. Its natural hot spring has a long history and together with the pool and other facilities will quickly heal your traveler’s fatigue.
