JR Kyushu Rail Pass
The JR Kyushu rail pass for shinkansen makes your trip around Kyushu very convenient. The JR Kyushu Rail Pass allows you to get on an off any Shinkansen, Limited Express, Special Express or local trains run by JR Kyushu. There are 2 kinds of passes, one is limited to the North-Kyushu area while the other covers the whole island. Both are available for either a 3-day or 5-day time span.

10:30 Mimitsu Historical District
A spot where you can still see merchants’ homes built in 1884, with thick wooden beams and a dirt floor pit unique to Japan, surrounded by an air of solemnity. A virtual time travel to the Miyazaki of the past!
11:30 The Sea of Cruz
This spot where nature’s forces have cut the water crosswise is considered auspicious. A prayer made here will make your wishes come true, at least according to local legend. Also try striking the bell on the viewing platform – it might also help!
12:00 Umagase Cape
Shaped like a horse’s back (that is what the name "Umagase" means), this cape is the most popular tourist spot of Miyazaki Prefecture. Enjoy the magnificent view and physically experience nature’s awe-inspiring power.
12:30 Umi-no-eki Hososhima
Besides a nice view of the harbor, this restaurant allows you to try the local cuisine with fish and seafood just brought in from the sea. It also features a shop with products from the area so you can do your souvenir shopping right on the spot!
15:00 Takachiho Gorge & Boat Rental
After lunch, on to Miyazaki’s other most popular tourist spot! Ride a boat, see from up close the V-shaped gorge and the 17-meter waterfall and let your whole body take in the power of nature.
16:20 Amanoyasugawara Cave
Japan’s legends claim this to be one of the strong power-spots in the land. If you make a pile of stones while wishing for something it is supposed to come true. Regardless of the outcome though, the cavern’s mysterious ambience will certainly move you.
17:30 Hotel Takachiho
Surrounded by lush nature, this hotel will make you forget your everyday life. It is conveniently located within walking distance of Takachiho-jinja Shrine, where the Japanese traditional dance “Kagura" is performed.
20:00 Takachiho Kagura
Designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property, Takachiho’s Kagura (ritual dance) is a sight not to be missed. Held for one hour (20:00-21:00) every evening, the gods’ dances with the valiant white masks will enchant you and transfer you to a world between reality and fantasy.
