Shodoshima Olive Park

Built on the site of Japan's first olive plantation, Kagawa's Shodoshima Olive Park is perched on a small hill overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. Explore the park's 2,000 olive trees which are accessible via scenic walking paths, or take an iconic snapshot at the replica Greek windmill that is the inspiration for a popular Japanese animation about a young witch - this is the reason many visitors take their magical Insta-shots while straddling a broom!

Ryuoo SORA terrace

You can certainly get one of the most stunning mountain views in Nagano at Ryuoo SORA Terrace, located at the top of Ryuoo Ski Park's ropeway lift. At an elevation of 1,770m, the terrace affords extensive views of the surrounding mountains and - when the conditions are just right - a vast sea of clouds punctuated by jutting rocky peaks. Why not have a drink or two at the adjacent cafe with this Insta-worthy backdrop?

Spot background image Daimon-zaka Slope

Daimon-zaka Slope

The cobblestone steps of the Daimon-zaka slope is a photogenic portion along the Kumano Kodo, a network of ancient pilgrimage routes in the Kansai region. Running for 600 metres, this uniquely-paved path is a combination of manageable steps and gentle inclines; at the top of the slope, you can catch a glimpse of the awe-inspiring Nachi Falls. For a truly resplendent Instabae (Japan buzzword for Instagrammable) photo, put on rental costumes of the Heian era (794-1185) from the teahouse located at the beginning of the path.

Sky Post

The Iseshima Skyline is a "highway in the sky" that connects the cities of Ise and Toba, traversing Mt. Asama midway through. At the top of this mountain is an observatory with a spacious flower garden and an outdoor footbath boasting beautiful coastal views of Mie Prefecture. Here you will find the Insta-worthy "Sky Post" - an iconic red working postbox standing proudly at the summit. Why not buy a postcard at the gift shop and post it back home as a memento?

Sanbutsuji Temple of Mt. Mitoku

Mt. Mitoku in Tottori Prefecture is home to Sanbutsuji Temple which comprises several buildings, including Nageire-do, nicknamed "Japan's most dangerous national treasure." It is perched precariously on the side of a sheer cliff on wooden scaffolds at an altitude of 500m. What makes this ancient temple dangerous is the fact that visitors have to hike up a thrilling path that requires using chains and walking on narrow rock ledges. Whether you climb up or not, the temple certainly makes for an amazing photo.

Spot background image Kuroshima Venus Road

Kuroshima Venus Road

Part of the Ushimado district in Setouchi City, the Kuroshima Venus Road is not technically a "road," but a mystical sandbar that appears daily at low tides, connecting three islands: Kuroshima; the smaller, heart-shaped Nakanoshima Island; and Hatanokojima, the smallest island in the chain.
Popular with couples because of its romantic setting, take a stroll along the sand bar and wait for that perfect #sunset shot. Getting to Kuroshima is possible via Limani Hotel's sightseeing boat, local charters, and even by sea kayak.

Located on the Boso peninsula, Mt. Nokogiri is home to the millennia-old Nihonji Temple with its Big Buddha sculpture and 1,500 rakan (Buddha's disciples) statues spread out across the mountain.
Accessible via ropeway, it takes just 4 minutes to reach the summit where you can enjoy sweeping vistas of Tokyo Bay. For an exhilarating Insta-shot, head to the Jigoku Nozoki (Hell Viewpoint) observation deck, which is a rock formation that precariously juts out off a sheer cliff.

Spot background image Sakurai Futamigaura

Sakurai Futamigaura

Sakurai Futamigaura in Itoshima City, Fukuoka is considered one of the most beautiful sunset spots in Japan. At 150 metres away from the shore, the site consists of two rocky outcrops representing a giant "married couple" who are joined by a Shimenawa rope, and has become a symbol of marital happiness. At the nearby beach is a large, white torii gate which perfectly frames the two rocks, creating a stunning sacred atmosphere for that perfect #spiritual sunset shot.
