Start your day by savouring matcha and seasonal Japanese sweets served in Ryureiseki style (Japanese tea room with tables and chairs) at the Kokura Castle Garden. After the relaxing cultural experience, head to Tenshukaku on the fifth floor of the castle to enjoy some sweets, coffee, and the spectacular view of the parameters. Don't forget to grab some souvenirs unique to Kokura from the Shiro Terrace nearby!

The Kokura Castle Garden is not only beautiful, but enjoyable at any time of the year as the layout of the garden was designed in a way to last throughout all four seasons! It has maintained its beauty over time, from when it was constructed in the 1600s until now.
Once done with the morning activities, settle down and feast upon the local delicacy of Kitakyushu at AKASUSHI. With a high-quality menu at an affordable price, the authentic Edomae Sushi they offer is made with red vinegar and fresh seafood, and is sure to be an extraordinary treat for the palate.
Take photos at the iconic Mojiko Station, where you can also find a tourist information counter offering maps of the area in many languages, including English and Chinese. I stepped into the footbath and immediately felt warm and cozy as it was a chilly day! It also feels like a mini onsen that is free for all, and the beautiful snow-capped Sakurajima in the background just adds to the experience.
One of the most popular ways to enjoy Kagoshima's renowned kurobuta, or black pork, is through shabu-shabu as it enhances the delicate flavor of the meat. At Wakana, the staff will guide you on the proper steps to savour the kurobuta for you to truly enjoy this delicacy!
