This largest hot air balloon competition in Asia is held annually for five days from late October to early November. Featuring more than 100 competitors from around the world, spectators are treated to a wonderful array of colourful balloons of varying sizes as they decorate the sky and grounds of the Kase River in Saga Prefecture. This spectacular skyward event features several tournaments and continues into the evening with fireworks, live music, and concludes with a night event illuminated by the firelight of the balloons.

Best way to see
Since the success of the competition depends on the weather conditions, especially a good clear weather window, the best time to watch the balloons is in the early morning. The weather during this season can get very cold, so be prepared with appropriate and sufficient clothing to keep yourself warm.
